AmyLee is the best kind of poet, which is to say she is a brave one. Unafraid to expose her own vulnerabilities, desires, and history, she wields her pen like a tool. Sometimes it's a scalpel, cutting away at the wounds and scars living and loving leaves upon us all. Other times, her pen is a chisel in the hand of a master craftsman, sculpting memory into living tributes; shaping, smoothing, curving to reveal the lurking in our hearts, our souls as works of art. At times (and this is my favorite of the tools in her kit) her pen is a shovel, digging up the graves of lost loved ones, mining the memories and mysteries of family members vanished and gone, revealing the roots of her life with the stories of those who lived before. In this collection, seekers will find a new voice with an old soul, prose without pretense, words coupled in beautiful simplicity, sewn one to the other in casual complexity, creating a rich tapestry from human fabric. AmyLee lives within the lines she's offered here, and between them, too.
